Spier offers the perfect spot for a picnic, combining natural beauty and seasonal goodness at their historic wine farm.
The wine farm’s new riverside picnic area offers panoramic views in a serene setting among big granite boulders and the gurgling Eerste River.
Spier has a range of award-winning wines on offer. While adults sip on a vintage of their choice, children can enjoy the Elemental Play Garden to their heart’s content.
Managing director at Spier, Frans Smit, said their riverside serene space was perfect for a long, relaxing picnic.
“Seeing the giant exposed boulders and the restored section of the river is a reminder of the history of this special farm and the life source that the Eerste River has been to the land and people,” he said.
The Spier riverside picnic is priced at R295 per person for adults and R160 per child under the age of 12. This includes a picnic basket filled with seasonal fruit and veg from the farm and local suppliers. Plant-based options are available too.
Baskets must be ordered 24 hours in advance and spontaneous guests can choose from a selection of treats available at the Spier farm Café.
