To counter the effects of a financial crisis, which has been looming over Childline KZN since Covid-19, the organisation will embark on a fun-filled family day to raise funds for its programs and operating costs.
The event, called Childline KZN's FunFest 2025, will be a day of fun, food, and giving back to children across the province.
The event will be held on February 22 at the Northwood Crusaders in Durban North and will be a major fundraiser for the organisation, which is dedicated to the welfare and protection of children.
Adeshini Naicker, director of the organisation, said: “We are on a mission to raise vital funds to continue providing critical support and services to children in need across the region. FunFest 2025 will feature a variety of attractions, making it the perfect outing for families, friends, and supporters of Childline KZN.”
The highlights at the event will include a tea garden with live music, an inflatable park, face painting and a variety of stalls and food vendors.
“We want people to join us and relax, while enjoying the live performances and sipping on a cup of tea in a cozy, garden setting. The inflatable park will be a thrilling adventure for children to jump, play, and enjoy hours of fun in a safe environment. Attendees will also be able to explore an array of unique stalls and delicious food options from local vendors, which are perfect for foodies and shoppers alike,” Naicker said.
Childline KZN provides invaluable support to children across the province through its network of 16 sub-offices.
“Despite our impactful work, we've faced significant financial challenges due to the loss of a major funder and the current economic climate. Fundraising has been tough.
To help alleviate our financial strain, we have planned this event and are hoping that the public supports us. The participation and contributions from the community will directly impact our ability to continue safeguarding and supporting children in need throughout KZN,” she added.
Tickets are priced at R30 per person and entry is free to children under the age of 12. The festival will start at 9am and finish at 4pm.
