Willah Mudolo, the businessman and investor in self-proclaimed prophet Sheppard Bushiri’s mega church project has taken the prosecutor in the matter, Desire Rosenblatt to task.
Mudolo was left to pick up the pieces after Bushiri skipped the country following his arrest in 2020. Bushiri was charged for corruption and money laundering.
Mudolo is now fighting to clear his name, providing evidence that he too was a victim of a grand extortion.
Mudolo has reported Rosenblatt to the court, opened criminal charges and reported her to the Judicial Services Commission for purgery and defeating the ends of justice.
Mudolo, in a heavily-written affidavit said while he was charged on October 17, 2020 on allegations of corruption and money laundering, but he was himself a victim of the heinous crimes himself.
It is believed that Mudolo was an investor in Bushiri’s plan to build a mega church city in the North West but was extorted of millions by Bushiri and his inner circle.
Mudolo has accused Rosenblatt of intentionally trying to negatively influence the case against him.
“I wish to repeat and reiterate the fact that I never committed any of those alleged crimes, in actual fact I am a victim to those crimes too. The reason for making this affidavit is to open criminal charges against Ms Desiree Rosenblatt who is also a prosecutor in the matter against me in the High Court, which has been postponed to 20th January 2026.
“The charges I want to open against Ms Rosenblatt are charges of defeating or obstructing the course of justice. Her conduct in court, both in the lower court and the High Court is so unethical that it amounts to defeating or obstructing the course of justice.
“She lies to the court to the extent that she gives contradicting versions to court simply to make sure that I am prejudiced, even if it means that her conduct is so unethical that it amounts to defeating or obstructing the course of justice.”
“It is shocking to say the least that a person who is a senior prosecutor and is supposed to be an officer of the court and present the truth to the court, would go to that extent.”
“On 4 May 2022 Rosenblatt unlawfully and intentionally and in contravention of section 65A read with section 310A (3) failed to cause a copy of the leave to appeal to be served on me or my erstwhile attorneys in the bail appeal that Ms Rosenblatt lodged against my release on bail and amendment of my bail conditions. I am advised that subsection 3 of section 310A does not give Ms Rosenblatt discretion, she was compelled to serve the application for leave to appeal on me or my attorneys. By deliberately choosing to exclude me from Page 2 participating in the State's application for leave to appeal, Ms Rosenblat committed the crime of defeating or obstruction of the ends of justice.”
In a responding affidavit Rosenblatt denied the accusations made by Mudolo and insisted that the state continues to withhold Mudolo’s passport.
“The contents of this paragraph are denied. The mere lip service to the words that he will suffer irreparable harm does not conform to the proof on a balance of probability” her affidavit reads.
Mudolo is said to not be backing down in his fight to clear his name and expose alleged corruption within the courts.
Bushiri, considered the mastermind, continues his tirade against the South African government and has claimed that the SAPS had demanded R10m from him and his wife, as a bribe.
In a series of social media posts and online publications in Malawi, Bushiri made claims that a company called Rising Estate Limited was the beneficiary of his church funds.
According to the Hawks, there is no such company on their radar and Bushiri should not attempt to muddy the case.
“We investigated a lot of companies, there is no evidence that the Rising Estate Limited did anything wrong. It’s clear that the money was sent to Malawi before Bushiri skipped the country. If he was innocent, why did he run away?” the Hawks said.
Responding to The Star following the latest accusations, SAPS spokesperson Athlenda Mathe called on the controversial man of the cloth to come forward and report these allegations.
“We call upon Shepherd Bushiri to come forward to open a case of corruption and bribery against those members so we can investigate this case,” Mathe said.
The NPA spokesperson had not responded to questions at the time of publishing.
