Sundays are set to be a thrilling experience for comedy enthusiasts with the local adaptation of the hit comedy dating series, “Dating #NoFilter”, promising a barrel of laughs while showcasing the peculiar dating customs of South Africa.
This comic series set to premiere on E! Africa (DStv channel 124 and DStv Access) on October 13 at 7pm centres around a group of singletons who are set up on blind dates by comedians, who observe the dates and provide uncensored criticism.
The 10-episode, unscripted series produced by Brainstorm Entertainment brings together a dynamic cast of 16 commentators, led by ever-vim and vigour comedian, TV personality, and actor Jason Goliath.
In conversation with Saturday Star, Goliath—who is no stranger to television, having been on popular comedy shows like Ses' Top La and E!'s Celebrity Game Night—shared exciting information about the new series.
“For me, it is another dream come true. Somebody asked me the other day how things were going, and I said that every day I wake up and make more of my dreams come true. And this is another one. You know I love the channel, I love what they stand for, and I love the way they entertain South Africans. And I also love what it has done for the continent.
“I’ll tell you a story. I had no idea that people knew who I am outside of South Africa. For example, I arrived in Lusaka, Zambia, and I am at passport control, and instead of asking for my passport, the official goes, ‘Mr Goliath, what are you doing here? And that is the power of entertainment and DSTV. It is so well accepted on the continent, and I think it is so fantastic as an opportunity for us and for the continent to show people how proud we are of Africa.’’
He further said having had a home on E! Africa for all four seasons of the SAFTA-winning Celebrity Game Night, he was delighted to be leading E’s latest, exciting local production, “Dating #NoFilter”.
“It’s been so much fun to team up with so many local talents while showcasing the quirks of South Africa’s dating culture. If viewers have just as much fun as we’ve had commentating, they’re in for a treat.”
Some of the commentators joining Goliath include actress and radio personality Hope Mbhele, media personality and content creator Lebogang Tlokana—also known as “The Funny Chef, rapper and songwriter Cassper Nyovest, and actress Jo-Anne Reyneke, Nina Hastie, among many others.
The series, originally aired on E! in the US, is a local adaptation of the successful format, filmed in Johannesburg, marking the fourth international adaptation.

In addition to revealing the premiere date, E! Africa also unveiled the trailer, which offers viewers a preview of the hilarious commentary from some of South Africa's most well-known figures as they watch singles negotiate the capricious world of blind dating.
