Durban — Much loved actress, filmmaker and businesswoman Connie Ferguson has a few new and exciting initiatives that will be coming up.
Ferguson, who won the hearts of South Africans when she featured in the SABC soapie Generations, is expanding her brand, Connie, which will be on Netflix, and plans to revive her production company, Ferguson Films, which she co-owned with her late husband Shona Ferguson.
Speaking to the Sunday Tribune, she said her brand, which was launched in 2015, initially started with just a body lotion.
This week Ferguson launched her beauty, hair, activewear and health products on Instagram. She said they had spent a long time working on the new products.
“I even thought we would never launch,” she said, laughing.
The hair range was perfect for all types of hair, including weaves and extensions, which many people take their weaves to the salon for treatment She said the waterless shampoo revives the hair and makes it look fresh.
Ferguson, who is also known for her role Harriet Khoza in The Queen, said working on expanding her brand had taught her that you have to work hard for everything good in life and believe in prayer.
The 54-year-old actress said her biggest critic was her daughter, Alicia Ferguson.
“My daughter is a difficult customer, but on the day of the launch she used the products and she was so impressed,” she said.
Ferguson said she knew that she had done something right when her daughter was impressed with her products.
“She came to me and asked to feel her skin. It was like silk and her reaction was priceless,” she said.
Ferguson advised women to take care of their skin and use sunscreen as it played a vital role in preventing skin damage.
To keep fit and maintain her beauty, she said she exercised regularly, took multivitamins and ate healthily.
The actress said she would soon be on Netflix with a new show.
“I have just finished a show. We were shooting in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Unfortunately, I cannot give more details at this stage,” she said.
Of Ferguson Films, she said that if everything went well, they would be in production towards the end of this year.
Although Ferguson would have preferred her two daughters, Alicia and Lesedi, to pursue careers outside the entertainment industry, she said she was proud of their achievements and supported their career choices.
