Kaizer Chiefs icon Doctor Khumalo is delighted with his former side’s signing of Gaston Sirino, who completed his move to Naturena on the weekend.
The Uruguayan — who has South African citizenship — left Mamelodi Sundowns after six years at the end of last season, and Chiefs swooped in, securing his services for the next two years.

The 33-year-old Sirino had a successful time at Sundowns, and left the club with an impressive haul of medals. He won five league titles, two Nedbank Cups, and the Telkom Knockout and MTN8 once.
And it’s that experience that made him an attractive target for Chiefs, according to sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr.
And his experience and quality is also something that Khumalo was happy with, telling Soccerzone he expected the South American to do well at his new club.
“Having watched him play at Sundowns, he did well. But I think he comes to Chiefs in his category right, he really wants to play,” said the former Bafana Bafana star.
“He was not given a fair deal at Sundowns and I’m not talking bad about them, but I’d like to believe that.
“But now he also comes to a new setup, because of new coaches, who are highly qualified and I’d like to believe that Nabi and his team will benefit out of Sirino’s experience because this is exactly what Kaizer Chiefs need at the moment.”
Much has been made of the Soweto giants’ need for more experience after they let a number of old heads go at the end of last season.
After the club were humiliated by Tanzanian champions Young Africans in Bloemfontein a week ago, Nabi made it known they were looking to bring more players in as he attempts to bring the good times back.
Sirino’s signing appears to be a step in the right direction.
