Egyptian giants Al Ahly have reportedly turned down offer from two Saudi Arabian clubs for South African forward Percy Tau.

According to reports, while the Red Devils are open to letting the Bafana Bafana star go due to having struggled this season, they said ‘no’ to the offers from Saudi club Al Kholood and Al Wehda as they did not meet their evalution for the player.

KickOff report that Al Ahly have slapped a $3 million (R55 million) price tag on Tau, who has also been heavily linked with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, who are now under the tutelage of Tunisian mentor Nasreddine Nabi.

Tau has spent much of the season on the sidelines due to injury. When he was available, he struggled to get going, and hardly showed the kind of form that once saw him move to Brighton in England’s Premier League.

And whenever he’s put the Bafana Bafana jersey over his head, his performances often left fans frustrated as he was not the Tau of old.

The report in KickOff also suggests that Al Ahly head coach Marcel Kohler is unwilling to green light Tau’s departure unless they’re able to find a player of a similar level.

Two months ago, Tau was said to be keen to move to Kaizer Chiefs. However, that came at a time when the club was linked with Pitso Mosimane.

Tau previously made his mark with DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns, before moving to England in 2018 — via Belgium — and then eventually to Egypt in 2021.

On Tuesday, Tau returned to action after nearly a month on the sidelines and scored the winner as Al Ahly came back from a goal down to win their league game against Modern Future.
