Audi's sketch artists have been putting in some overtime lately. Just days after releasing some official drawings of the upcoming Q3 SUV, Audi has dropped some artwork that exposes the new A3 three-door.
While we've already been treated to a concept car at Geneva, which previews the four-door sedan that will be added to the range, the drawings you see here show, in rather good detail, what you can expect from the side profile of the three-door hatch as well as the dashboard.
Just add a toned down version of the concept's A6-like front end to the profile sketch and you're on the money. While still recognisable as an A3, the new hatchback has an edgier style that follows in the footsteps of the smaller A1. The same can be said of the cabin.
The three-door A3 will be the first version to break cover, early next year, and it will be followed by a five-door hatch and then a sedan - the latter previewed at Geneva last month.
Beneath the bonnet, the A3 is expected to have a range of downsized petrol and diesel engines much like the current range, while hybrid and electric versions are also rumoured to be in the pipeline.
Of course the one we're looking forward to the most is the RS 3, and to that end, the presence of a 300kW turbocharged five-cylinder motor beneath the bonnet of the concept is a promising sign indeed.
