Pretoria - When Jaguar puts an R on the end of a model designation, the result is usually pretty impressive - witness the heavily muscled XFR and XFR-S, the performance flagships of the XF sedan range.
Now Jaguar has leveraged some of that persona into a new styling package called R-Sport, adding a distinctly hard-core look and feel to less beastly models.
And the first to have the R-Sport aesthetic magic wand waved over it is the XF - to be precise, the three-litre, V6 Supercharged XF which, with 250kW and 450Nm under its bonnet, is no slouch in stock trim anyway.
The XF R-Sport gets a bit more road presence in the form of a deeper sports bumper, R-style side sills, a bootlid spoiler and sexy 18-inch Lyra alloy rims.

Go over to the dark side with the optional Black Pack - gloss black surrounds for the windows and boot-lid trim, and a black grille set in a black chrome surround.
The 'Don't mess with me' theme continues inside with an R-badged steering wheel, stainless-steel pedals and charcoal-on-charcoal ‘Suedecloth’ trim with light grey contrast stitching - or optional red or tan stitching - on six-way power-adjustable sports seats.
R-Sport sill plates on the front doors and R badging on the side vents drive home the message.
Want more? An optional Sports Interior Pack adds heatable front sports seats with no less than 18 electrically powered adjustments each - so it's probably just as well that the driver's seat has two memories, for you and a significant other, to save you having to set the cockpit up from scratch every time you get back in.
The XF R-Sport 3.0-litre V6 Supercharged is available to order now, from R777 430.
