Whitley, West Midlands - This is what happens when you let the performance junkies in the Special Vehicle Operations skunk works at Jaguar headquarters loose on the company’s sports flagship, the F-Type R.
You get the limited-edition F-Type SVR - lighter, faster and more powerful, with a top speed of more than 320km/h.
And that’s all Special Vehicles boss John Edwards is telling us for the present about his new project, which will make its global debut at the Geneva Motor show in March and will go on sale in the third quarter of 2016.
Taming Jaguar's bodacious F-Type
Yes, on sale. The F-Type SVR is the first series production Jaguar to be developed in the custom shop, which is why Edwards is so proud of it.
“We’ve put everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design into the F-Type SVR,” he said. “The result is a 320km/h, all-weather supercar you can drive every day.
“We even made a convertible version so you can enjoy the sound from the new titanium exhaust system.”
Sadly, only the coupé version will be coming to South Africa; prices, as always, when they get here. As soon as we know more, so will you.
