It's no secret that Fiat's latest 500 rates highly on the automotive catwalk.
Fashionable, trendy, chic, a 'boutique hatch'… call it what you like, Fiat is not ashamed of it. In fact this car company capitalises on this with special editions like the Gucci creation you see here.
This collaboration between two Italian brands (basically a Fiat 500 customized by Gucci creative director Frida Giannini) was presented to the fashionistas of this world on the opening day of the Milan Fashion Week.
It'll also entertain the ladies (while their partners drool over more macho machinery) as part of a pop-up Gucci store at next week's Geneva Motor Show.
The black and white colours of the 500 by Gucci, in unique eye-catching glossy pearl glass paint, set the stage for a neo-classic black and white film.
If you choose a black one, you'll get exterior detailing in shiny chrome paired with a cabin that contrasts in sharp black and white while the white version has satin chrome detailing and a cabin that blends ivory and black.
Adding to the retro flash are 16-inch wheels with retro hubcaps and a cursive Gucci signature on the door post and tailgate. Opt for the 1.4-litre version and you also get rear break callipers in Gucci green.
The car's silhouette is outlined by Gucci's signature green-red-green stripe, which runs along the entire perimeter and links the exterior to the interior. The stripe also appears inside on the seats, on the gear shift, the key-cover, the carpets, and in an innovative finish on the seatbelts.
The cabin also joins in the fun with what Fiat calls: "chic embroidery, exclusive materials, glossy and satin chromes, a velvety varnish on the radioboard and two-toned seats in Frau leather with the Guccissima print. Some Gucci stores are even offering a kit of fashion accessories to go with this car.
The 500 by Gucci will initially be available in Italy only, before being rolled out to the rest of the world at the end of this year. While Fiat SA cannot yet confirm whether it'll reach South Africa, local buyers can look forward to other trendy editions in the meantime, like the 500 by Diesel that's due next month.
