A South African film takes centre stage as “The Queenstown Kings” secures multiple nominations for the prestigious 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
Directed by Jahmil X.T Qubeka, this groundbreaking film is competing in major categories, showcasing South Africa's growing talent in the African movie industry.
The 20th edition of the AMAAs will take place on November 2, at the Balmoral Centre in Ikeja, Nigeria, under the theme ‘Celebrating African Creativity.’
The key categories feature nominations for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Zolisa Xaluva), Best Supporting Actor (Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa and Tessa Twala), and Best Supporting Actor (Sandile Mahlangu).
Technical achievements such as Production Design, Costume Design, Soundtrack, and Sound have also garnered recognition.
Ahead of the awards ceremony, the AMAA Coffee Book Launch is scheduled for October 25, celebrating 20 years of the Africa Movie Academy Award.
The Africa Night of Legends will be on November 1, which will honour individuals who have made important contributions to African cinema.
Other films like “Under the Hanging Tree”, “The Weekend”, and “This is Lagos” also secured multiple nominations, making the competition fierce.
