Music producer Nota Baloyi has broken his silence after rape charges against him were officially withdrawn. The case, initially brought forward by actress Itumeleng Bokaba, took a turn when she opted to step away from legal proceedings, for now.

Bokaba explained that her decision was not about dismissing her experience but rather about prioritising a significant career opportunity that demands her full focus.

She addressed the situation in a statement shared on Instagram, making it clear that she stands by her truth.

“I’ve decided to withdraw my case at this time to focus fully on this exciting new chapter.

“However, this does not mean that the case has been dismissed or that my experience is invalid. I remain firm in my truth and will revisit the case at a later stage when I am in a better position to do so,” she said.

Following the withdrawal, Baloyi responded, expressing both relief and frustration. He highlighted the impact that public accusations can have on a person’s life, stating that reputations take years to build but can be shattered in an instant.

“My family has been both emotionally and financially supportive throughout. The most concerning thing for me is that the complainant still thinks that this is a joke.

“She does not care about the hurt and pain she has caused me and my family. And also how her handling of the matter triggers real victims,” Baloyi said in recent reports.

Bakaba's post received comments that conveyed disappointment and concern.

One user commented: “Aii mara girls. This is why they don’t believe us 💔. What kind of message are you sending to other young girls who have been victimized?😢”

“But what message are you sending to young girls? Rape is a serious issue,” commented another.

While another wrote: “Wow this (does) not look good on you (your part) sorry, but whoever advised you, misled you.”

This case is stirring up conversations about justice, accountability, and the impact of public accusations.

Baloyi says the allegations have hurt his career and personal life, while others argue that situations like this can make it even harder for survivors to come forward in the future.

Bokaba made it clear that she still plans to take the case forward, so this isn’t necessarily the end of the legal battle. But the mixed reactions online show how tricky these cases can be.

Baloyi has denied the rape allegations made against him by the “Rythmn City” actress. He claimed that their encounter was consensual and expressed confidence that the evidence would prove his innocence.
