South African media personality Anele Mdoda found herself on the wrong side of netizens, who dragged her on X for speaking out on the Chris Brown saga.
This happened after the American singer commented on a post by Women For Change, an organisation that raises awareness about gender-based violence and domestic abuse.
Women For Change posted a petition to prevent Brown from performing in South Africa in December 2024 due to his history of being violent towards women and men.
The singer commented on the post and said: “Can’t wait to come” and added a heart emoji.
That comment angered a lot of followers of the organisation, including Mdoda, who said: “I was not going to comment on this Chris Brown saga cause I think people must do what they want with their money, but this is [and added a sick emoji].”
People on X responded to her comment, reminding her that she is not the one to call out Brown when she is friends with Somizi Mhlongo, who was convicted of indecent assault in 2008.
Mhlongo was found guilty of indecently assaulting Celani Njapha and was sentenced to six months in prison and a R6 000 fine.
“Let me point you to your own 🤮 moment of hypocrisy. 2008 Somizi Mhlongo was convicted of sexual assault. But here you were platforming him & selling his story as ‘A story of survival’...
“It was okay for you to just observe because you clearly have an unresolved internal conflict on this topic,” commented @vuyo16.
@BabablacksheepK added: “Somizi is a convicted sex offender yet you happily work with him. He also abused his ex-husband.
“Sithelo Shozi slept with a then teenager and had kids by him and you still work with her. People are going to call you out on the double standard.”
