Nigerian musician and controversial socialite, Speed Darlington, has been trending for days.
According to reports online, the artist went missing a few days ago.
His mother, who goes by the name Miss Queen, then took to social media to accuse global Afrobeats superstar, Burna Boy, and his team of “taking her son”.
In the video, she begged Burna Boy to “release” her “only son”.

Later, it was revealed that Darlington was not captured by Burna Boy’s team but was instead arrested in Lagos, moved multiple times and finally taken to Abuja for allegedly defaming Burna Boy on social media.
We just spent the last 30mins with Speed Darlington and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around and eventually brought to Abuja and has been in detention since then. Petition against him was written by Burna Boy we can confirm.
Burna Boy accused Darlington of defaming and cyberstalking him.
This comes after Darlington made waves on the internet with comments questioning Burna Boy’s 2021 Grammy win for his acclaimed fifth album, “Twice as Tall”.
In a video that quickly went viral, Darlington poked fun at the circumstances surrounding the prestigious accolade, which was produced by US rapper and record executive Sean “Diddy” Combs.
He suggested that the integrity of the win may be questionable, linking it to Combs’ recent legal issues, including serious sexual abuse allegations and the seizure of over 1000 bottles of baby oil, implying that Burna Boy may have been compromised in working with Combs.

Videos online show that Darlington has since been released from jail after meeting his bail conditions but is yet to address his detainment publicly.
Burna Boy has also remained silent on the issue.
Meanwhile, Deji Adeyanju, Darlington’s legal representative and human rights lawyer, took to his X account to thank those who contributed to Darlington’s release and commended the police for their professionalism.
“Special appreciation to #YeleSowore, super reliable senior lawyer #stanalieke, and to all Nigerians for raising their voice for Speed Darlington. Must also appreciate Prof Sanusi and his team at IRT for their professionalism today,” he wrote.
