Anele Mdoda has been announced as the host for the upcoming DStv Content Creator Awards.
Acclaimed for her dynamic personality and sharp wit, the renowned media personality promises to guide attendees through a memorable evening as the best in content creation is celebrated.
"I'm beyond excited to be hosting this year's DStv Content Creator Awards,” Mdoda said in a statement.
“Get ready for a night full of surprises, laughter and standout moments celebrating the phenomenal talent that’s shaping the future of entertainment in South Africa. I’m bringing my A-game as this year’s host because these creators deserve nothing less than a show as daring and dynamic as they are," she added.
The star-studded event will be held in an exclusive, custom-built venue on Nelson Mandela Square on October 12, as it the creative voices that define the digital age, including social media stars, podcasters and visionary short-filmmakers.
For the first time ever, Channel O will present the event’s official after-party, which will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sandton, where top DJs will be rocking the decks.
Fans will be able to choose who takes home the coveted prizes as among the award’s categories, five will be open for public voting.
These are the Cause Award, Emerging Creator Award, Song of the Year Award, Trendsetter Award and DStv Creator of the Year Award.
TV presenter and social media sensation, Sivuyile “Siv” Ngesi bagged two nominations this year. His campaign against period poverty will be up against other campaigns, including actress Nomzamo Mbatha’s EmpoweringHer and Bella Monsoon’s fight against GBV.
Ngesi is also nominated for the coveted DStv Creator of the Year Award, alongside the likes of Darren Campher, Khanyisa Unfiltered, Sifo The Cooking Husband, Nabilah Kariem and others.
For music, it’s Tyla’s “Water” versus Tyler ICU’s “Mnike” for the Song of the Year Award. Others in this category include Dlala Thukzin’s “iPLAN”, “Dalie” by Kamo Mphela and “Tshwala Bam” by TitoM and Yuppe.
Organisers have also added a few more new categories such as Gaming Creator of the Year.
This category will honour an outstanding individual who has demonstrated exceptional talent, creativity, influence, and dedication in creating gaming content that resonates with audiences and contributes to the gaming community as a whole.
Others include the Best Event After Movie Award, Storyteller Award, Pan-African Creator Award and the Trendsetter Award.
