Durban — There is so much to ‘sea’ and do for those who choose to visit KwaZulu Natal’s South Coast, this coming festive season.

Inviting the holidaymakers to come and explore the region, the South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE) CEO Phelisa Mangcu said that from the 120km coastal stretch extending to the lush hinterland, there are unlimited adventures on the south coast of KZN.

Mangcu said from seaside bathing and deep-sea diving to hiking, biking and extreme sports, there is something for everyone in the Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom.

The SCTIE, which is the official economic development arm of the KZN south coast identifies and unlocks the full tourism and investment potential of this region. This includes breathtaking blue flag beaches, world-class diving and fishing sites Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks and deep-sea charters.

For the sport enthusiasts -- colloquially referred to as ‘The Golf Coast’ -- the KZN South Coast has a green for every golfer with no fewer than 11 golf courses dotted throughout the region.

Keen hikers, birdwatchers, trail runners, mountain bikers and 4x4 enthusiasts are also spoiled for choice, with established routes found throughout the farmlands, nature reserves and more.

The dramatic geographical features and many nature reserves set the backdrop for some ultimate adrenaline-inducing action such as white-water rafting, traversing the Lake Eland Suspension Bridge, ziplining, shark diving and microlighting.

It is also home to the Wild 5 Gorge Swing, the world’s highest swing of its kind.

And, if motorsports are more your speed, then a visit to the Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone -- the only Motorsport South Africa (MSA) approved racing track in the province will surely start your pulse racing.

There are also the Great Drives Out, which will give tourists a chance to explore some incredible rural tourism attractions.

Mangcu further added that Port Shepstone is the economic hub of the region -- with the KZN South Coast fast becoming a key business, events and investment destination to those who are keen on such aspects.
