A Pnet Job Market Trends Report has revealed the top five jobs that are in-demand in South Africa.
The report offers insights into recruitment and employment trends in the South African market, according to Pnet.
The number one job that is in-demand is Business Analysis in the Information Technology sector.
The second job that is in-demand is Nursing/Professional Caregiving in the Medical & Health sector and the third most in-demand job is Executive Management/Director in the Business & Management sector.
Rounding up the top five most in-demand jobs in the country is Quality Control in the Manufacturing & Assembly and Building Project Management in the Building & Construction sector.
On a month-to-month basis, local hiring activity increased by 8% from June to July 2024 which signals a positive upward trend, according to the report.
Year-on-year, hiring activity increased by 4% in comparison to July 2023. The two-year comparison shows that recruitment activity has risen by 6% when compared to July 2022.
Pnet said that stable and increasing hiring activity indicates confidence in the local economy and business growth.
In the Architecture & Engineering sector, there was a significant uptake in recruitment activity for the sector. There was a 9% increase in hiring activity year-on-year for this sector.
For the Manufacturing & Assembly sector, there was an improvement in hiring activity or July 2024. Since July 2023, this sector has seen a 6% rise in recruitment activity.
For the remote work market, the three jobs that are in-demand are professionals in the following sectors: Business & Management, Information Technology and Finance.
The Pnet report showed that hiring activity for the remote work job market has slowed down.
However, when comparing hiring activity for the last three months (May, June and July 2024) to hiring activity for the previous three months (February, March and April 2024), there has been an increase in recruitment for IT professionals.
For the international job market, the jobs that are in-demand are also in the Business & Management, Finance and IT job sectors.
Year-on-year, there has been a rise in international recruitment for IT professionals (49%), Finance (30%) and Business & Management professionals (19%).
