Johannesburg - This festive season, relax and unwind at Jazz @ the Yards which is set to take place in Johannesburg this week.

The event, hosted by GentleBrothers presents Herbie Tsoaeli In The Meantime Quartet and features Tsoaeli himself on the bass. Meanwhile, Tefo Mahola will be on the drums, Afrika Mkhize on piano, and Malcom Jiyane on the trombone.

The acclaimed Tsoaeli is no stranger to the spotlight as he won Best Jazz Album at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) back in 2013. He also received accolades for his debut album African Time. Better known as “uMalume” by most of his fans in the South African jazz scene and following his hit Hamba No Malume from the African Time album, Tsoaeli music is a combination of different elements of South African music and jazz.

The musician refers to his music as a spiritual experience and has coined the term “Jazz Moya” to describe it, which means Jazz influenced by spirits.

As a treat for his Gauteng fans, Tsoaeli will be hosting an intimate afternoon at the Victoria Yards, Bez Valley in the east of Johannesburg this weekend.

Jazz @ the Yards will take place on December 18 2021 from midday until late. Attendees will only be allowed in if they are wearing a mask. Tickets cost R220 per person.
