Durban - eThekwini Municipality said the city’s bus service would be operating normally on Monday following heavy rains at the weekend which resulted in road closures due to flooding and damage.

In an alert on Sunday night, the city advised residents that while the bus service is operating normally, buses may need to take a detour due to road closures and commuters may experience delays.

The municipality said in uMlazi, the buses are not able to travel through the Bhekithemba Police station route and have been diverted to Shaka Circle.

In the Central-South, the city said all routes operating through King Edward Hospital to the South are diverted to Rick Turner Road. Thereafter, they turn left at Bartle Road, then left at Hillier Road and operate as normal to Sydney Road.

In the Corner of Oliver Lea Drive and Brisbane Roads in Umbilo, buses are diverted to Prospect Road, it said.

The municipality also noted that in Shallcross, the temporary bridge at Blundell Road is closed.

“Buses that operate through Blundell Road are diverted to turn back to the DSW depot before the bridge,” it said.

The People mover service is uninterrupted.
