Durban – A farmer let two alleged mielie thieves off the hook after they stole two 50kg bags of mielies from his farm.

Magma Security and Investigations said that at about 4.30pm on Thursday, they were parked at Thokans service station in Dargle, Howick, when they were approached by a local informer stating that there were suspects on their client’s farm who were in the process of stealing their client’s produce.

The security company said that their officers immediately proceeded to the railway line in Lions River and walked towards the fence line where it was suspected the suspects would exit.

“Two suspects were arrested and two 50kg bags of stolen mielies were recovered,” the security company said.

The farmer was contacted but he did not wish to open a case and both bags of mielies were returned to him.
